You can cut to whatever size pieces you need. My cats def will not walk on this, as the spikes are close together enough that they can't ninja walk their way through. The benefit of getting the black square spiky mats that I also have, is that they are sturdier than this clear plastic roll. This roll still works though and is great for long/large spaces you need to cover. We are using this indoors on tile floor so they do easily slide so we need to figure out a way to prevent that.I've ordered this products (both in black and white) multiple times for almost a year now. It definitely deters cats from your furniture, pots, etc. The spikes are sharp enough for the cats to stay aways. If you need this product for indoor use only, then you're in luck stop looking this is it for you. However, if you're using it outside, then it's different story. We have stray cats in the neighborhood and unfortunately my next-door neighbor feeds them so they come to my house to lounge and take a siesta on my furniture. They completely ruined my outdoor cushions (which I had to replace) and my allergies were having a field day. I laid this product on top off all my chairs, couches, etc. outside, I even zip tied it to fence and gate and finally the cats got the message - "stay away". It's been almost a year and I don't see any trace of the cats in my garden. I would give this mat 10 stars from that prospective. However, the mat doesn't last outdoors at least not in part sun (maybe it will with full shade outdoor). The plastic becomes brittle and falls apart after about 1 month or so outside. I'm constantly buying batches to replace the brittle one, hence the lower rating. I wish love the manufacturer finds a solution. Our 18lb crazy Ginger cat likes to climb up - well run and climb interior doorways and when he comes back down his claws grip into the wood leaves marks all over! Weve tried many approaches to curb his addiction. Nail toppers, lavender, even put aluminum foil on the trim and yep he tried to eat that (he thinks he’s a dog) ?So we found this and we were able to cut it up and hang it up strip wise to match the size of the trim & use command hooks to make stay put we were thinking will it work?!We were worried he could hurt himself or paws on the plastic pokes so we let him sniff and touch laid out on floor and quickly realized I don’t like this! When we put it up he went to go and do his jump but quickly stopped realizing the obstruction in his jump line and tapped bottom with paw and meowed with disgust!! He hasn’t tried to jump those door ways and we can take down when company comes over. We have extra in case he decides to jump another doorway. Thanks for giving us some sanity back! Though we’re sure our crazy Ginger cat is Meowty plotting…???Easy way to keep the catsOff the new couch and you barely see it on the couch because it is clear. Perfect for training them and they won’t get hurt.We bought this as a humane way of trying to deter neighborhood cats from peeing on our front door. The paint was peeling after years of insult, and the doorsill was rotting at the place they kept using. But what really made me act after years of annoyance was that one of our male cats, who has always peed INSIDE the door to respond to the other cats, began doing it a few times a week. This may be because a new neighbor moved in, and instead of one male cat peeing on our door, we now have two. Too bad there are no leash laws about cats.I researched all the human methods, but most are for training your cat indoors. This system is designed for garden use, and I can see how it could be very effective, but I wondered about using it on our concrete patio. I cut the strip in half and laid two rows of it in front of the door. I then took Gorilla duct tape and taped it down on the ends. We have lots of wind here. The patio is under roof, so it doesn't get wet often, especially as we live in the desert. But I was concerned about the wind. I also wondered if it would work at all.Since installing it about a week ago, our cat has only peed at the door inside once. After years of doing this, and months of doing it a few times a week, this is a noticeable improvement. Some behaviors will continue past the time the stimulus is removed, and we have cleaned the area thoroughly and hope eventually he will quit altogether. I have seen no signs of pee on the outside of the door, so I believe it's working.Whether this will work for you in the same way, I don't know. There isn't a good way to anchor the strips to concrete, but for us, the duct tape is working. I check it daily. I am pleased with this product. It's the best thing I could find that looked as if it had a chance of deterring two cats from peeing on our front door. We are using this on our fence posts to keep our kitty from climbing the posts into the neighbours yard. Working really well so far.
